Prior to FiveOpenBooks, Axel was Exec. VP at ChipPath Design where an intuitive online platform for both FPGA and SOC design & cost estimations was developed. He previously held both technical and managerial leadership positions at Canon Information System and Research Australia and Canon USA. He served 6 years in the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG committee) and The Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG/JVT committee). He started his career at Fraunhofer, Germany, and holds a PhD in Mathematics. His core expertise is signal processing, computational imaging and image/video algorithms.
Antonio Ortega is a professor in the Dept of Electrical Engineering at the University of Southern California. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. His research expertise includes multimedia systems, in particular compression technology, and has published widely and holds several patents in this area. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and has received multiple research awards. He co-founded InQBarna (2010), a profitable, privately held Barcelona-based developer of mobile apps. He has served as an advisor through its initial bootstrapping and early growth phases.
Han Dong serves as a marketing consultant for FiveOpenBooks and the P3 Privacy platform. With over 20 years experience of driving market awareness and growth for several Silicon Valley startups and enterprise B2B and B2D products and services, Mr. Dong has launched a number of disruptive platforms and solutions that deliver value and strong customer affinity. Han previously launched and led Hyphenate Inc., a cloud-based in-app chat (Instant Messaging) platform for mobile apps. Han has a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
